The Magical Taxi Tour 2018 – 25th Anniversary

This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Magical Taxi Tour, an amazing and unique event organised by The Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers (WCHCD), which sees London black cabbies take children suffering from a range of chronic illnesses on a 3-day trip to Disneyland Paris.

What is the Magical Taxi Tour?

The Magical Taxi Tour is a spectacular convoy of over a hundred London cabbies, accompanied by London ambulance NHS Trust vehicles, the city of London police escorts and the AA breakdown trucks, all joined by the French Gendarmerie across the Channel.
They all start off from Canary Wharf, after a big breakfast to keep them going until they arrive at Dover, across the channel and down to Paris. The children and their family got to spend a day in Disneyland Paris and enjoyed a dinner and disco in the evening at the Disney Hotel – a much needed and well-deserved treat.

Who is behind the initiative?

Organised annually by the The Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers and made possible by the dedication of the Black Cab drivers who give up their time, the tour is supported by a number of organisations and trade supporters, such as Plan, Drivertax, Ubiquitous and many more.
This year, we were extremely proud to enter three cabs, one of which had been fully funded by our very generous staff, who relentlessly organised fundraisers to sponsor a vehicle.

Pictures speak a thousand words, so here are a few snaps of this fantastic weekend, that makes such a difference to the life of children who get to spend a lot of their time in a hospital bed.
