Exhibiting Essentials: how to make the most of your stand

As Ethos Asset Finance prepare for the London Motor Show and PHTM Show 2017, they give us their top tips on optimising your presence at trade shows.

If you’ve ever exhibited at a trade show, you will understand the planning and organising that goes on behind the scenes to produce an interesting and informative area you will hope people will visit.
You don’t want the public (and potential customers) to walk by without a glance in your direction, missing an opportunity to sell them your product – which is why you are there after all.

Brand awareness

Booking a stand space is only the first step. The biggest challenge is how to make your stand superior to your neighbours’ stands, without it costing the earth. Imagery is a good place to start and having a focal point and creating a theme utilising your brand colours, will give you a professional edge.

The finer details

Don’t forget the finer details too – the comfy chair and table, inviting guests to come and sit down with you; the informative flyers and promotional gifts you can dish out; the ever popular carrier bag to get you noticed throughout the exhibition without you having to move from your stand – all help to promote your product.
There are the usual risk assessment and safety procedures to comply with, along with hotel bookings, car parking, meals and any other administration, all important details to remember to ensure a seamless experience.

Be prepared

Have knowledgeable staff on hand and be prepared – business cards, company information, etc – you are there to gather new contacts, leads and possibly sales. Dress smartly, fix your smile, wear comfortable shoes, relax and have fun!

Promote your presence

Don’t forget to promote your presence at a trade show with social media posts, mail shots to your clients, place on your website and tell everyone you come into contact with to spread the word. There are so many advertising mediums around, pick yours to suit your audience.

Post exhibition

Finally, and most importantly, evaluation! Gather customer feedback, the number of new leads generated, the amount of sales taken – this will determine the success of the show and the return on your investment.
