Poppy Cabs: London Cabbies go the extra mile for Remembrance Sunday

Poppy Cabs: London cab drivers will once again support Britain’s war heroes by transporting veterans free of charge on Remembrance Sunday.

London’s finest hackney carriage drivers will be offering a free taxi shuttle service for veterans to and from the Cenotaph Service on Sunday 11th November 2018.

In what has become a humbling tradition year on year by London Cabbies, drivers give up their fares, and use the day as their opportunity to pay their respects to the veterans for their service to the country.

Marshals will also be directing passengers to the taxi’s “turn up and go” service, hailing from all London mainline stations. Here at Plan, we are proud to have 6 members of staff who have volunteered to assist this event by offering their services as marshals on Sunday.

All London cabs are fully wheelchair accessible, which will certainly be a feature very welcoming for several attendees on the day.

Subject to availability, a number of vintage taxis also typically take part in proceedings on Remembrance Sunday.  In exchange for a donation to the British Legion funds, visitors will be able to take a short ride and pose for photos in the classic taxis.

This year, Remembrance Day falls on Sunday, the main service and parade will be held at the Cenotaph on Whitehall, London. We’d love to see you all there.

Drivers who would like to offer their help can get involved by turning up at any mainline station, or for further information, contact organiser Mike Hughes via email at mike@mikehughes.org.uk or @PoppyCabs on Twitter.
