As National Careers Week 2019 takes place ( 4-9 March), Chantelle tells us about her career progression from college, to joining Plan’s Insurance Foundation Scheme.

I’d like to take a moment to tell you about my journey at Plan. Before I was introduced to the company, I was in full time education studying for my A Level Business. As well as studying three days a week at college, I was also trying to hold down two part-time roles.
Despite enjoying my time in retail, I knew I would need to find a role more suitable to my experience and qualifications, and gave myself a clear goal to find that before I finished my final course with East Surrey College.
Whilst attending a careers event in March (2018), I discovered a Broker called Plan Insurance. Plan were offering a unique opportunity (Insurance Foundation Scheme) where I had the chance to not only spend 18 months in a professional office environment, but also work in several of their departments.
Although I have only been here 6 months, I’ve already learnt so much. I started off in the admin department, where I learnt how the office ran and provided administrational support for the sales teams. I was instantly made to feel welcome and quickly became part of the team. After spending two months there, I then moved to the customer service department for Taxi Sales to further my understanding of the business. This is where my problem solving skills were tested even further and I gained a great amount of knowledge about the products we sell.
One of the things that has impressed me most, is the teamwork and the way I’m made to feel like part of the company. I started out not really knowing what to expect, but since day 1, the training and support I’ve received have been excellent. I’ve always been given the necessary tools and time to be able to carry out each role effectively.
I’m now very excited to be going into the renewals team where my journey continues, so watch this space!
