The cooling off period on your insurance policy is 14 days. Please note that you may still be charged the Insurance Broker fee, which is non-refundable once the policy has been purchased, and the time you had on cover, if any.

Am I covered to drive abroad?

New rules regarding driving in the EU if you’re a UK resident came into effect on January 1st 2021. Since we have left the EU, UK based drivers are now required to provide a Green Card (also known as an International Motor Insurance Card.) This is additional proof that the car insurance has the minimum level of insurance needed to drive within the EU states as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Serbia and Andorra.

Your Green Card will not only be needed to prove that you have car insurance at the border crossings. Amongst other examples it may also be requested whilst traveling after a motor accident or if you are stopped by the police for any reason.

Please get in touch with us at least 14 day prior to travelling to request your Green Card. You can find the relevant team’s contact details on our Contact Us page. Further details regarding Brexit resulting in Green Card requirements can be found on our blog.
