Introductory discount it is not usually transferable to another insurer at the time of your renewal. However it is hoped you will have built up some real No Claims Bonus in the mean time.

So Protected No Claims Bonus will still save you money.

If you decide to take out a policy with us, and declare that you are entitled to No Claims Bonus you'll need to provide evidence of that No Claims Bonus. Most UK insurers will only accept No Claims Bonus from policies that expired within the last 2 years. This must have been earned on a private car or commercial vehicle insurance policy, on which you were the main driver.
Usually your most recent insurance renewal invitation will show the number of years' No Claim Bonus you've earned, the expiry date of your last insurance policy and any claims you've made. If this renewal invitation is from your insurance company, not your broker, this can act as your No Claims Bonus Proof.
However if it is a renewal notice from your broker you must request your No Claims Bonus proof from your broker. Please note that in the majority of cases UK insurance companies will only accept No Claims Bonus from other UK insurers.
Please also note that you can't use the same No Claims Bonus on more than one policy at the same time. However some insurers will allow an introductory/mirror bonus discount on your second car insurance equivalent to that of your No Claims Bonus.

If you're a company car user with a claims free driving history, who is purchasing your own insurance, then we can offer you large discounts. However we'll need a letter from your employer confirming that you were the sole user of the company vehicle, the dates you were covered under the company car scheme, details of any claims which occurred during this period and whether these were settled on a fault or non fault basis.
If you don't produce evidence of your declared no claim discount, we'll either charge you for the additional premium required from the start date of your policy or cancel the policy.

Only the policyholder benefits from building up a No Claims Bonus discount on a policy. However we can usually arrange an introductory discount for you, equivalent to a NO Claims Bonus discount, if you have a claim free driving record.
Some direct insurers offer policies where second drivers can build up their own No Claims Bonus. Should the named driver wish to take out their own car insurance policy this no claims bonus will only be valid if the named driver remains with that particular direct insurer. If this direct insurer proves to be expensive and the named driver wishes to ring around for a more competive price, as they would have done in any case, other insurers on the basis of this second driver experience will still only offer introductory discounts equivalent to a No Claims Bonus discount.
